Title and Meta Description: SEO Method with AI

Write titles and meta descriptions true to your pages with AI. Brief, examples, promise verification, and SEO revision method.

Hands of a person correcting proofs with a pencil on a wooden desk, near glasses, a cup, and a blurred computer.

“Discover our complete guide” neither specifies the subject nor what the page enables. “Preparing a voice-over: script, rhythm, and proofreading” provides concrete reference points. The title and meta description must present a page with enough precision so the right person understands its value.

AI can suggest formulations and detect duplicates. Your role is to set the authorized promise, verify it is fulfilled on the page, and choose text that remains readable. This method applies to an article as well as an offer page, without assuming the provided wording will be displayed exactly as is.

1. Distinguish the title tag, visible heading, and snippet

The <title> tag belongs to the page metadata; the main visible heading presents its content to the reader. Google may use several elements to produce the title link shown in results, as explained in its documentation on title links. Both texts must therefore describe the same page, even if they are not strictly identical.

The meta description provides a proposed summary. Google can build the snippet from page content and display different text depending on the search. Its documentation on snippets describes this behavior. So also write a clear introduction: metadata do not compensate for a vague page.

Working with writing budgets

You can use, in your process, about 45 to 60 characters for a title and 120 to 160 for a description. These are practical guidelines to condense writing, not official limits guaranteeing display. Visible space depends notably on result presentation and device. Keep essential information first.

2. Extract a promise sheet from the page

Proofread the final content before generating metadata. Note the audience, main question, useful outcome, and elements actually present: method, example, checklist, template, or comparison. Also note limitations. A page explaining video preparation should not be presented as an automatic editing tool.

If you hesitate about the main need, return to your keyword research based on intent. An expression designates the subject; the promise sheet specifies what this page offers among possible answers.

Remove adjectives you cannot justify. “Ultimate,” “perfect,” or “guaranteed” take space without describing the deliverable. A real detail like “brief example” helps more to distinguish two close pages.

3. Produce several formulations with a useful difference

Request a small set of proposals, each built around an identifiable angle: the task, the deliverable, or the problem solved. The goal is not to permute the same words. Each proposal must offer a different and faithful way to understand the content.

Example of work

For an illustrative article on preparing a voice-over, a first version could be “AI Voice-over: everything to know to succeed.” It remains vague. A task-centered version would be “AI Voice-over: prepare a clear script to listen to.” A deliverable-centered version would be “AI Voice-over Script: method and proofreading checklist.” Choose according to what the article actually contains.

The description can then specify the method: “Prepare your voice-over script: segmentation, rhythm, pronunciation, and control before export. Example and proofreading checklist to adapt.” This editorial example announces neither commercial result nor technical capability absent from the page.

4. Use a prompt linked to the final content

Prepare SEO metadata for this page in English.
Final content: [faithful and verified text or summary].
Audience: [person and situation].
Main question: [need].
Deliverables present: [method, example, checklist, etc.].
Main expression: [natural wording].
Propose three distinct titles and three associated meta descriptions.
Writing budgets: title about 45–60 characters;
description about 120–160, spaces included.
No guarantee of result, no unjustified superlatives.
Mention only elements present on the page.
For each pair, explain the concrete benefit announced
and note any ambiguity. Do not add branding to the title.

Recount characters in your editing tool: counts proposed by the assistant may be inaccurate. Correct texts that are too long by a real content decision, without removing articles and prepositions until the sentence becomes telegraphic. The method for writing an article with AI helps stabilize content before this synthesis work.

5. Verify pairs across the entire site

Compare metadata of neighboring pages. Two almost identical titles may signal poorly distinguished promises. Rewrite elements that help the reader choose. If contents also repeat, the problem goes beyond the tag: their scope must be reviewed.

  • Does the subject appear from the first useful words?
  • Does the title distinguish this page from neighboring pages?
  • Does the description develop the interest instead of repeating the title?
  • Is each announced deliverable really present?
  • Is the English natural, without keyword stuffing?
  • Does the published page contain the texts expected in its metadata?

Keep the date of change and its reason. When revising, examine the search context and content before attributing any evolution solely to the title. A clear history avoids repeated changes driven by a passing impression.

Frequently Asked Questions about SEO Metadata

Should the exact same text be used in the title tag and the main heading?

They can differ to suit their uses, provided they describe the same subject and promise. Prefer a natural main heading and a concise title tag that remains understandable alone. Avoid presenting two contradictory angles.

What to do if Google displays a different snippet?

First check the coherence of content, summary, and the need expressed by the search. A different snippet alone does not prove an error. Correct what is imprecise on your page, then keep a record of the revision.

Gather your promise sheet, then prepare your variants in writing templates. Retain the pair that most faithfully describes the finalized page.
